Travel in style on the Northern Beaches
We are all travellers in the world. But it’s how you travel that often determines your experience.
Perhaps you’re a cruise-in-comfort armchair tourist, a wind-in-the-hair adventurer, an adrenaline junkie, a nature-loving hiker, or a little bit of all the above.
Take to the sky, the water, the trails or the open road for a travel memory that will stay in your mind as much for the beautiful Northern Beaches backdrop as for your choice of transport.
Take to the sky

By plane
It’s a bird. No, it’s actually a plane, and it’s one of the most indulgent ways to travel to and over the Northern Beaches.
Choose from a range of flights, from scenic tours to dining and weekend experiences at some of our best restaurants and accommodation.
Check out businesses like Sydney Seaplanes, Sydney by Seaplane and Sydney Scenic Flights for your sky-high experience.
By helicopter
Get to the chopper … and experience a flight with a difference. Sydney HeliTours takes scenic helicopter flights over Sydney’s most iconic landmarks including Manly Beach.
Travel on two wheels

You can go slow, you can go fast or you can go faster aboard a bike; just choose your style and your trail.
Whether you’re an experienced cyclist, an adrenaline-junkie mountain biker, new to bike riding or an Easy Rider who loves to live life in the fast lane, the Northern Beaches has a huge variety of options to get your blood pumping. For bicycles, either BYO or rent from Manly Bikes or Northern Beaches Cycles.
Pedal power
For those who like the relaxed route, cruise the bike path along Manly Beach and take in this iconic strip of surf and sand. Further north in Narrabeen the beautiful Narrabeen Lagoon trail is an 8.6km tranquil loop ride through beautiful ecosystems and past cultural heritage sites.
For something more adrenaline-pumping, the Northern Beaches’ wealth of bush reserves, national parks and bespoke tracks, make it a very popular mountain biking area. Manly Dam is an exciting 11km loop offering a mixed range of terrain, while Bare Creek Bike Park will put your skills to the test on its 1.6km of downhill bike trails, flow trails, skills and dirt jump areas, and a pump track.
For those with the skill and stamina for road biking, tour the entire Northern Beaches on an 89km return trip from its southern-most point to its most northerly tip accessible by road and bike – North Head to West Head. This challenging ride hugs the coast for much of its journey before heading up to West Head and fabulous views.
Rev it up
If there’s too much pushing involved with a regular bike but you still want to get your heart racing, throw your leg over a motorbike and feel the power.
Harley Davidson and trike tour company Wild Ride Motorcycle Tours has a range of trips around the Northern Beaches. Simply jump of the back of one of these powerful machines and enjoy the ride.
They also offer tours for those with intellectual and physical disabilities, who can travel with a companion on board a custom Chopper 4 Trike Rumble.
If you really know your bikes, check out Weekend Rider for a Northern Beaches experience aboard one of their iconic and classic motors like the Indian Scout.
Sail away

If you want to skip the exertion and adrenaline and simply sit back and enjoy a tranquil experience travelling the Northern Beaches, take to the water aboard a luxury yacht and watch the world float by.
Sail the tranquil waters of Pittwater with Taylor Made Escapes, which offers skippered day charters and overnight stays with optional gourmet platters and sparkling wine.
Explore the region, swim in secluded bays and enjoy the tranquility of life on the water.
Journey on two feet

Why ride when you can walk?
Strap on your hiking shoes and take the most coastal route possible to explore the full length of the Northern Beaches.
We’re talking a full day hike from the gateway of Manly all the way up to Sydney’s northern-most beach, Palm Beach. Along the way take in every strip of oceanside sand we have, including Freshwater, Long Reef, Collaroy, Avalon and Newport.
At 36km in length, this route might sound long, but the time passes easily due to the beautiful scenery combined with refreshing salty ocean breezes.
Journey on four legs

With beautiful bushland trails like Cascades Trail in Garigal National Park and Perimeter Trail in Ku-ring-gai National Park, travelling atop a horse is one of the most pleasant ways to experience the Northern Beaches. If you don’t have your own steed, there are options to lease, or contact one of the local riding centres to enquire about their trail rides. Terrey Hills Riding School caters to all levels of rider experience and offers lessons, holiday programs and trail rides.
