Wind and Wave
This sculpture was unveiled in 1988 as an Australian Bicentennial
Project. It represents patterns of sunlight, water, clouds and seabirds in flight. Possessing vitality and rhythmic movement, the
sculpture culminates in an inspirational reach for the sky.
Lenton Parr (1924 – 2003) was the Dean of Arts and Director of
the Victoria College of the Arts through the 1970s and 1980s. He
began his sculptural career as an assistant to the renowned British
sculptor Henry Moore and was one of Australia’s most celebrated
sculptural artists noted particularly for his works in welded steel
