Lunar New Year at Felons Barrel Room
Felons Barrel Room will celebrate Lunar New Year with a four-day program of food, tradition and community on Manly Wharf, welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse from Thursday 19 February to Sunday 22 February.
At the centre of the celebrations is a waterfront Lunar New Year Feast on Thursday night, featuring a shared banquet menu curated by Saigon Supper Inn, the Vietnamese food offering within Felons Barrel Room, led by chef Bao La. The banquet draws on the symbolism of traditional Tết dining, with dishes representing prosperity, abundance, longevity and togetherness
Menu highlights include prawn spring rolls, chicken dumplings shaped like ancient ingots, prawn and pork wontons, longevity noodles, steamed whole coral trout, Peking duck, soft shell crab fried rice and seasonal greens. Each dish is designed to be shared, reflecting the communal nature of Lunar New Year celebrations.
The feast will be accompanied by traditional lion dancers, performing at 7.30pm on Thursday evening to usher in good fortune and positive energy for the year ahead. A second lion dance performance will take place on Sunday at 1.45pm, welcoming families and daytime visitors to the precinct.
Across the weekend, guests are invited to visit the Felons Barrel Room fortune tree, blooming with wishes of luck, prosperity and renewal, while enjoying Felons’ barrel-aged beers and Vietnamese-inspired dishes.
The Lunar New Year Feast on Thursday 19 February is ticketed and bookings are recommended. The remainder of the celebrations are free to attend, with walk-ins welcome.
