Oceanides refers to the sea nymphs of Greek mythology which
were often part human and part sea-creature. They reflect the
exuberant energy and playfulness that the Greek philosophers
called ‘the laughter of the gods’. The two figures represent joyful
bathers in the sun and sea, luxuriating in the beauty of Manly and
the relationship between humankind and other creatures.
