Girly in Manly explores the power and presence of the feminine, showing how femininity, often coded as delicate, decorative, or domestic, is a source of authority, endurance, and cultural influence.

Together, the artists demonstrate how representations of the female can be mobilised as critical, authoritative gestures, positioning all that is captured in the vernacular term ‘girly’ as a disciplined, strategic, and potent force actively shaping meaning, power, and subjectivity within contemporary visual culture.

The participating artists are Kate Bohunnis, Anne Ferran, Maddison Gibbs, and Ebony Russell.
