Bazaar & Bar is a neighbourhood wine bar reimagining the Indian dining experience
Brookvale has been long in need of a go-to spot for great food and drinks – until now. The opening of a new neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar, Bazaar & Bar, is set to deliver exactly what locals and visitors have been waiting for.
The venue is the brainchild of hospitality professional Kabir Arora (Salt Meats Cheese, Seagrass Hospitality) who brings over eight successful years of serving Indian-inspired favourites at local institution Sketch Manly, and rising culinary talent Adwait Jagtap (ex. Kolkata Social, Raja), who steps into his first Head Chef role.
Together, they’re bringing something distinct to the Northern Beaches – a deeply personal, produce-led take on Indian flavours, backed by years of industry experience. Aiming to connect guests with a sense of home, Kabir’s vision also stems from years spent learning alongside his mother in the kitchen, and Adwait’s menu draws on the regional dishes he grew up eating.
“This is food with a soul,” says Adwait, “these are the flavours I grew up eating, dishes with a story, a sense of place.”
On the menu, expect rich, generous flavours alongside modern, produce-forward technique. Highlights include a fiery Champaran Mutton – slow-cooked goat on the bone, perfumed with smoky garlic and spice, and a coastal-style Prawn Gassi with red chilli, coconut, and tamarind.
Designed with the local community in mind and suited to all occasions, the menu also features a vibrant mix of traditional and contemporary small plates and share-style dishes – perfect for date nights, family dinners, or casual catch-ups. Highlights include mushroom pepper fry, semolina crusted kingfish collar with Recheado spice, and grilled spatchcock in kali mirch butter.
But it’s not just about the food. At Bazaar & Bar, the drinks list plays an equally central role. A curated selection of Australian wines takes the spotlight, alongside a handful of exclusive international drops. The cocktail list features five unique and inventive creations, each with a distinctive Indian twist such as a Garam Masala Negroni made with house-spiced vermouth, a curry leaf Gimlet, and a smoked Jaggery Old Fashioned – all designed to complement the spice-forward menu.
The name Bazaar & Bar reflects the venue’s dual identity. “Bar” positions the venue as a true neighbourhood wine bar and gathering spot for the local community whereas “Bazaar” nods to the vibrant spirit of traditional Indian markets and the venue’s spice bazaar retail shelf featuring house-made pickles, chutneys, sauces, and curated local small-batch goods.
“We’re not trying to reinvent Indian food – we’re showcasing it in a setting people might not expect. Think Indian flavours, local produce, and a glass of great wine. It’s casual, warm, and full of heart,” says Kabir.
The restaurant’s design mirrors this blend of heritage and modernity. The warm, sit-down space draws from the vivid colours and textures of Indian bazaars, balanced with laid-back neighbourhood charm. The result is a welcoming venue where guests can feel at home and discover something new.
Located in the heart of Brookvale, Bazaar & Bar will be open for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday evenings with Friday & Saturday lunch.
