Mahan Art Centre
A beautiful and energetic creative hub located on Sydney’s northern beaches, Mahan Art Centre offers both beginner and established artists a truly unique space and environment to meet, learn and create.
Since opening just over two years ago, Mahan Art Centre in Manly has established itself as the complete art studio offering a high standard of classes for both children and adults, across all mediums including acrylics, oil and watercolour painting, drawing, charcoal, pastels and sculpting. Our students are individually tutored and supported in whatever direction they wish to take and many go on to enjoy impressive professional artistic careers. The focus, however, is always on fun and enjoying the process of creating something special.
Business founder and successful fine artist Elham (Ellie) Ahmadi not only shares her incredible expertise with students to gain impressive results, but with her guidance they’re able to gain the highest level of practical and theoretical knowledge required to reach their full potential. In association with the NSW Government, Ellie also offers art education to those in need in our community, including refugees and victims of domestic violence.
Born in Iran, Ellie graduated with a fine arts degree and established the first Mahan Arts Centre in Iran in 1994 teaching some 300 students. In 2011, Ellie immigrated to Australia and worked hard to improve her credentials even further, completing a Bachelor and Master of fine arts at the National Art School in Sydney, and Design at the NSW Technical and Further Education Commission (TAFE). She opened Mahan Art Centre in Parramatta in 2018, which Ellie continues to also operate as a successful and award-winning local business today.
Ellie is a proud member of the Australian-Persian community, from where much of her art inspiration comes from. Her recent works have been fuelled by her deep connection and concern with the current revolution in Iran over civil rights, freedom and liberties of oppressed women.
Ellie has featured in many individual and group exhibitions and produced large-scale commissions. Among many impressive works, her painting ‘The Bakhtiari Woman in Contemporary Form’ was purchased by the City of Sydney in 2018 and resides in the Lady Mayoress’ Room in Town House.
Mahan Art Centre, Manly, is a friendly, productive and vibrant art school and gallery that offers a variety of weekly classes, popular school holiday workshops, super fun wine and paint sessions, and amazing children’s birthday parties. The venue is also available to book for private art sessions and events.
