Things to do
Shop at the boutique stores
Avalon has become one of the go-to destinations for boutique beachside shopping. Wander around the village and enjoy the small stores catering to a variety of styles and taste.
Make the most of Pittwater
While you’re in Avalon, you can easily access and enjoy the beauty of Pittwater. Home to plenty of water activities that will keep you entertained for hours, such as learning stand-up paddle boarding. If relaxing is more your thing, chill out with a coffee and enjoy the tranquil waters and beauty of Clareville Beach.
Clareville is the perfect spot for families with small children as this long stretch of sand and water has no waves and also a great spot for a waterfront picnic.
Enjoy Avalon Beach
Avalon is a picturesque beach with rolling waves. At the southern end of the beach you will find a beautiful rock pool, which is extremely popular with young families and swimmers. The northern end is renowned for its big northern swell and surf. Surfers come from all over the world to find the perfect wave and fittingly, World Champion surfer Kelly Slater called Avalon home for 15 years.
Eat + Drink
Avalon village embodies a laid-back, bohemian coastal ambience and boasts an array of charming organic cafes and inviting alfresco dining spots.
Among its culinary gems is Alma, offering coastal-inspired Mexican cuisine with locally sourced seafood and produce.
For a leisurely post-beach indulgence, Bar Elvina beckons with its coastal-chic menu. This relaxed wine bar offers shucked oysters paired perfectly with a glass of wine — don’t miss their aperitivo hour and daily specials.
If a burger and shake are more to your liking, don’t miss Sunset Diner, a home-style Miami-inspired burger restaurant. With its pastel-pink décor, it emanates the look and feel of an old-style American diner. Be sure to leave room for a decadent sundae.
Meanwhile, Nourished Wholefood Café offers a comforting twist on classics like nachos, burgers and burritos, crafting healthier versions without compromising on flavour. Pair these dishes with their rotating selection of juices and smoothies for a satisfying and nutritious dining experience.
Venture a bit further to North Avalon and you’ll discover Café Relish, a breakfast and lunch haven where the labna stack of poached eggs, bacon and sourdough or the lighter option of in-house muesli with fresh fruit and yogurt promise to kick-start your day.
Come Friday afternoon, unwind at Avalon Brewery with a coldie and a pizza on the patio.
As dawn breaks over South Avalon Headland, the Classic Coffee Truck, once a US postal truck, awaits to fuel your day with a dose of caffeine. Against the backdrop of awe-inspiring ocean views, sip your coffee and keep watch for migrating whales.
Whether you’re craving a takeaway coffee, fresh seafood or organic vegan treats, Avalon’s culinary scene promises a satisfying adventure for every palate.
