Travelling with pets is becoming the norm. The good thing is that you don’t need to miss out on beach time while you are on holiday. Our off-leash areas have open space for your dog to run freely, shade, seating, taps and a dispenser with waste bags and a bin.

While dogs aren’t allowed in any of the Northern Beaches official swimming areas, there are plenty of dog beaches where they can run free.

There are some exemptions, so look out for signs or symbols that identify where dogs are not allowed. These are generally beaches, rock pools, water bodies, synthetic grass areas and wildlife protection areas.

Dogs are not allowed within 10 metres of a playground or a BBQ / human food consumption area. Please be mindful that not all dogs are suited to an off-leash area. Some can become overwhelmed by the other dogs and their activities.

You can find out more about each off-leash area from the Northern Beaches Council website.

Sandy Bay

If you are looking for a 24 hour dog friendly beach where your pup can run, jump and swim off leash in Manly. Sandy Bay is a quaint beach that is located north west of Clontarf along Sandy Bay Road.

There is a small grassed area for your dog to run around, a beach they can swim at to their hearts content and even a place to put your dog waste if needed.

Dogs are permitted off leash 24hrs, but the area is limited to the sand flats and part of the lawn area.

Probably one of the most popular dog parks on the list is Rowland Reserve. Located in Bayview and has everything your dog will need. A large grass area with plenty of trees for even the most active dogs to run around and a large beach for your dog to swim. Luckily your dog can run around off leash anytime of the day.

Manly Lagoon

Your pooch will be able to sprint along the waters edge at Manly Lagoon. This is a dog beach that stretches all the way from Queenscliff Beach playground to Pittwater Road. It is a great spot for your pooch to cool down on a hot summer day. There are plenty of coffee shops nearby where you can grab a coffee before you get there.

Flora & Ritchie Roberts Reserve

At Flora and Ritchie Roberts Reserve in Curl Curl your pup can run off leash at all times and they even have a natural lagoon for dogs to swim. You can meet other likeminded dog lovers for a chat while your pets play together.
