Best lookouts on the Northern Beaches
With lots of beautiful natural sites, the Northern Beaches has plenty of scenic lookouts that offer breathtaking views.
Here are seven of our favourite lookouts on the Northern Beaches.
1. West Head Lookout

The West Head lookout in Ku-ring-gai National Park offers breathtaking views across Pittwater, Barrenjoey Headland and the Central Coast. You will need to drive to this scenic Headland, but trust us the view is worth it.
2. McLean Lookout
From McLean Lookout you will get standout views over Narrabeen Lagoon and the local beaches. Located on the edge of Collaroy Plateau the views are one of a kind. If walking it is a bit of a hike uphill to get there, but the view is worth it.
3. Tania Park

A popular stop on the Manly to Spit Walkway, Tania Park has picturesque views of Manly Cove, North and South Head. If you look down from here you will also spot the historic fisherman huts of Crater Cove. There are seven of them in total and they are remnants of the locals who lived there from 1923 to the 1980s.
4. Barrenjoey Lighthouse

Probably the most famous lookout on our list is the Barrenjoey Lighthouse, overlooking both the ocean beach and calm waters of Pittwater. It is a short hike to the top, but once you get there you will be rewarded with picturesque views of the Northern Beaches, Pittwater, West Head, Ku-ring-gai National Park and up to the Central Coast.
5. Fairfax Lookout
The Fairfax Lookout is at the top of North Head with amazing views across Sydney Harbour. On a clear day you can see back to the CBD of Sydney. The lookout is accessible via an easy 1km track which is a part of the North Head Scenic walkway.
Part of the North Head scenic area will be closed while upgrades are underway, for more information check the National Parks website.
6. North Bilgola Lookout

Just off the Serpentine at Bilgola Beach is the stunning North Bilgola Lookout. This lookout is a great spot to admire the coastline. To the North you can see Bangalley Headland which is the highest point on the Northern Beaches coastline.
7. Long Reef Headland
The Long Reef Headland has fantastic views of the ocean, north to the Central Coast or south to North Head. Explore the rock platform for all kinds of marine creatures. During the months of May to November this is the perfect spots to see whales.
