Preparation is key to give your bike the best chances of having a second life at Decathlon.
CHECK THE BIKE
Ensure your bike is in working condition* with this checklist:

Frame & fork are undamaged

Tyres stay inflated and are above minimum tread depth

Brakes work properly and are above minimum thickness

Gears switch nicely

Wheels are reasonably aligned

Seat, rims, grips, & cables in good condition

No rust on chain or cassette

All ball bearings turn smoothly
CLEAN IT UP
Clean up the greasy parts and give your bike an overall shine: you’ll be amazed at how much better it will instantly look!

What bikes are eligible for buy-back?
The Buy-Back service is only available for the following bikes, all of which must be in repairable condition.
Adult bikes (over size 20’): DECATHLON branded bikes only.
That covers the brands BTWIN, ELOPS, RIVERSIDE, ROCKRIDER, TRIBAN and VAN RYSEL. We buy back bikes purchased in Australia from DECATHLON in the last 5 years.
Kids bikes (under size 20’): all brands.
Please note that e-bikes are excluded from the Buy-Back service for the moment.

What will I get in return for my bike trade-in?
We offer the buy-back value in the form of a gift card that you can use across all our Australian stores.
The value will depend on the evaluation of your bike:
For adult bikes, our buy-back valuation is calculated according to the bike’s type, original price, age and condition.
For kids bikes, the offer can only be up to $40 depending on condition and value of the (new) bike. An additional $10 of Gift Card value can be offered for Decathlon MVP members (new or existing).
Where and how can I use my buy-back voucher ?
Your buy-back gift card is valid for one year in all our Australian stores, on any product from our 70+ sports range
How is my bike buy-back price evaluated ?
The pricing model can differ bewteen kids bikes and adult bikes, and between Decathlon and external brands. The final price decision will always be made by the technician in-store.
For adult bikes, our buy-back valuation is calculated according to the bike’s type, original price, age and condition.
For kids bikes up to 24", we offer a fixed voucher of $20 or $40 depending on condition and value of the (new) bike. An additional $10 of Gift Card value can be offered for Decathlon MVP members (new or existing).
By completing our online form, you get a maximum buy-back value estimate based on the information you provide.
This offer is only temporary and will be validated or adjusted after your bike has been checked by our teams in-store. A counter-offer may be made to you if the information declared online does not correspond to the actual characteristics of your equipment.
Once the evaluation is complete, you'll receive your gift card which can be used straight away!
Can my bike be refused by Decathlon ?
The purchase of your equipment may be refused if:

You don't have a proof of purchase showing ownership of the bike

Your bike is not clean or in good condition

Your bike is not from Decathlon or out of the program scope
- Your bike condition doesn't match the description provided in the online form
- Your bike is more than 5 years old
- It is a bike with carbon frame (Store mechanic will decide)
- It is an e-bike (We don't have the capacity of repairing these yet)
What if I couldn’t re-sell my bike ?
There is still a fantastic option : bring it to one of our bike recycling partners. These non-for-profit organizations will do their absolute best to repair it, donate it to people in need, recycle the parts or value the waste as energy. These are all ways to offer your bike the Second LIfe it deserves.

What will become of my bike at Decathlon ?
After its takeover by Decathlon, your bike will be fully refurbished and refreshed by our technicians in order to put it back on sale within our Second Life offer. It will be guaranteed for 2 years, and can be returned or exchanged.
Does the Buy Back also include my bike accessories?
Decathlon Buy-Back service only applies to bicycles. Accessories purchased from Decathlon don’t fall into the service and must be treated separately: they can only be returned under the conditions of our return policy.
I purchased my bike at a discount during a special, can I still use the Buy-Back service?
Yes, but we will take into consideration the real price at which you purchased the bike, including any rebate or discount. Please indicate that real amount when filling your online estimation form.
A proof of purchase or membership information will be required at your in-store inspection
I bought my bike overseas, can I still benefit from the Buy-Back service?
You might, but a Decathlon workshop specialist will have to look at the bike and decide whether or not we can accept it. In any case, it has to be a bike that respects our criteria of service. See our Terms and Conditions for exclusions from the program.
Why am I offered a Buy Back solution and not a refund?
Decathlon’ return policy allows you to return your new, unused, and labelled products in case you change your mind or encounter a defect on your freshly purchased article. This also applies to bikes.
But the returns policy does not allow you to return used products, especially items that suffer from obvious wear and tear like bicycles. So the Buy Back solution is here to bridge the gap. It allows you to re-sell the products that still have a lot to give and can be repaired by our teams, while giving you a chance to upgrade to a new bike or purchase any other sporting goods from us.
